Communities In Schools at FC-CIS

Communities In Schools Site Coordinators work inside the Clarke County School System and partner with teachers, counselors and parents to identify challenges students face in class or at home and coordinate with community partners to bring outside resources inside schools. From immediate needs like food or clothing to more complex ones like counseling or emotional support, we do whatever it takes to help students succeed.

CIS Site Coordinators take the time to understand each student's unique needs and challenges and then work with them to set goals and track their progress during regular check-ins. They celebrate their student's wins and encourage them to keep going if, at first, they don't succeed. The Communities In Schools model is cost effective, reduces dropout rates and increases graduation rates

What Our Students are Saying

“I’m kind of shy, so asking for help was a challenge, but my parents wanted my grades up. The Site Coordinators were like second moms to me. There wasn’t a day that I wasn’t in the counseling office. They would talk to me about what I need to do and sign me up for organizations and programs that would help me succeed.”

“The Site Coordinators played a big role in helping me through my Spanish class which I struggle in a lot. They helped me find a tutor and, with their help, I went from a 39 to a 78!”
