District 6 Commissioner Stephanie Johnson and Terris Thomas, Director of Neighborhood Engagement, are Alpha Kappa Alpha sorors.

Honoring a Generous Gift from Iota Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the Pearls of Wisdom and Grace Foundation

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Iota Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the Pearls of Wisdom and Grace Foundation for their generous financial donation in support of our work. Their investment fuels our mission to connect neighbors to vital resources and build stronger, more connected communities in Athens, Georgia.

We were truly honored to be guests at the 2025 Ivy Affair and grateful for the warm, gracious welcome. Their commitment to uplifting local nonprofits and investing in community-centered solutions reflects the very best of Athens’ nonprofit and service-driven spirit.

Mercy Health Center Brings Holiday Joy to Local Families

This season, Mercy Health Center donated 40 Christmas trees to families supported through Family Connection Communities In Schools of Athens. For many families, this gift brought warmth, dignity, and a sense of celebration during the holidays.

Mercy Health Center’s generosity reflects a shared commitment to caring for the whole family and meeting both practical and emotional needs within our community.

Athens Rock Lobsters Teddy Bear Donation December 2025

Athens Rock Lobsters Deliver Smiles Through Teddy Bear Toss

We are also grateful to the Athens Rock Lobsters hockey team for donating 400 teddy bears collected during their Teddy Bear Toss at Akins Ford Arena.

These teddy bears are already bringing comfort and joy to children and families served through our Athens THRIVE program, our in-school site coordinators, and our Neighborhood Leaders. Moments of comfort matter, especially for children navigating challenges, and this gift is making an immediate difference across multiple touchpoints of our work.

Fox Den Thanksgiving Donation 2025

Fox Den Third Space Turns Community Into Care

We are also deeply grateful to Fox Den Third Space, where owner Tara reimagined generosity during Thanksgiving and winter break. In lieu of students or visitors paying admission to the space, guests were invited to donate food instead. This simple but powerful model resulted in meaningful food donations that supported children, students, and families connected to our work.

Fox Den Third Space continues to demonstrate how local businesses can creatively support Athens nonprofits while fostering community, belonging, and care.

Community Partnership in Action

These gifts represent more than generosity. They demonstrate how Athens, GA nonprofits, healthcare providers, civic organizations, and local sports teams can come together to strengthen families, support students, and care for neighbors.

We are deeply grateful to every partner who chooses to invest locally and believes in a stronger, more connected Athens.
